Five Emperor Coins
五帝钱 · Wǔdì Qián📜 Cultural Background
Five Emperor Coins (五帝钱) are coins from the reigns of China's five most prosperous Qing Dynasty emperors: Shunzhi (顺治, 1643–1661), Kangxi (康熙, 1661–1722), Yongzheng (雍正, 1722–1735), Qianlong (乾隆, 1735–1796), and Jiaqing (嘉庆, 1796–1820). This period represents the apex of Qing power and prosperity — the "Golden Age" of the last dynasty. The coins are strung together on red cord in chronological order, creating a concentrated burst of imperial yang energy.
☯ Symbolic Meaning
Each emperor's coin carries the energy of his reign. Together, the five coins represent the complete cycle of a dynasty's peak — establishment, expansion, consolidation, flourishing, and continuation. The square hole in the center of each coin symbolizes heaven (round) embracing earth (square), making each coin a microcosm of cosmic order. Strung together, they form a talisman of supreme authority and accumulated good fortune.
